10:00 am – 12:00 pm LU - Rice- 10 Reasons to Eat Rice Lucedale-George County Public Library (507 Oak St, Lucedale, MS, United States) On Saturdays at 10 am, Lucedale-George County Public Library will be hosting presentations on various agricultural topics. On September 9th, they will be discussing 10 reasons to eat rice, followed by a presentation on the George County Fair on September 23rd. Then, in November, they will talk about grain, and in December, they will cover forestry. Ann Howard, from the Farm Bureau/Mississippi Federation of Women of Agriculture/George County Extension Service, will be leading the presentations and discussing the importance of these crops in Mississippi and other areas. This program is geared towards children in kindergarten through fifth grade.

The aim of the drive is to encourage people to show kindness by donating to those in need. The Salvation Army and Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence need canned foods and non-perishable items, laundry detergent, hygiene products, clothing, and household goods. You can contribute by giving directly to the staff at the circulation desk or by depositing your donations in the designated box. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

11:00 am – 12:00 pm GA-Sensory Crafting with Katlin Gautier Public Library (2100 Library Ln, Gautier, MS, United States) The Gautier Public Library is hosting a family sensory make-and-take event called Sensory Crafting with Katlin on Saturday, October 07 from 11am – 12pm. This event is in honor of the Sensory Processing Awareness Month and is organized by Coastal Harmony. During the event, children and families can engage in sensory play with texture and liquid tiles, as well as a variety of sensory boxes and more. Katlin, a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) with a master’s in social work (SW), will be leading the event. She has clinical experience working with children with varying disabilities, adolescents in correction and alternative to juvenile detention programs, adults with disabilities, survivors of human trafficking, hospice and palliative care, bereavement, and geriatrics. Children will have the opportunity to make their own sensory bottle, sensory balloons, sensory bag, and mini sensory box to take home. This program is open to all-age children and families. Coastal Harmony is excited to host your sensory seekers in October!

on Fair Lucedale-George County Public Library (507 Oak St, Lucedale, MS, United States) On Saturdays at 10 am, Lucedale-George County Public Library will be hosting presentations on various agricultural topics. On September 9th, they will be discussing 10 reasons to eat rice, followed by a presentation on the George County Fair on September 23rd. Then, in November, they will talk about grain, and in December, they will cover forestry. Ann Howard, from the Farm Bureau/Mississippi Federation of Women of Agriculture/George County Extension Service, will be leading the presentations and discussing the importance of these crops in Mississippi and other areas. This program is geared towards children in kindergarten through fifth grade.

On September 9th, they will be discussing 10 reasons to eat rice, followed by a presentation on the George County Fair on September 23rd. Then, in November, they will talk about grain, and in December, they will cover forestry. Ann Howard, from the Farm Bureau/Mississippi Federation of Women of Agriculture/George County Extension Service, will be leading the presentations and discussing the importance of these crops in Mississippi and other areas. This program is geared towards children in kindergarten through fifth grade.

Monday September 18 – Tuesday October 31 PG-HUMAN KINDNESS DRIVE SEPTEMBER 18 - OCTOBER 31 Pascagoula Public Library (3214 Pascagoula St, Pascagoula, MS, United States) The Friends of Pascagoula Public Library and the Mississippi State Extension Office are hosting a Human Kindness Drive from September 18 to October 31. The aim of the drive is to encourage people to show kindness by donating to those in need. The Salvation Army and Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence need canned foods and non-perishable items, laundry detergent, hygiene products, clothing, and household goods. You can contribute by giving directly to the staff at the circulation desk or by depositing your donations in the designated box. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

LU- Crochet Club Lucedale-George County Public Library (507 Oak St, Lucedale, MS, United States) There is an awesome youth program happening at the Lucedale-George County Public Library. It’s a Crochet Club that meets every second and fourth Thursday of the months July through December at 3 pm in the Teen Section. This club is perfect for 6th grade and up and all skill levels are welcome to join. 10:00 am – 2:00 pm PG- American Red Cross Blood Drive Pascagoula Public Library (3214 Pascagoula St, Pascagoula, MS, United States) Join the Pascagoula Public Library and the American Red Cross in giving the vital gift of blood at the upcoming Blood Drive. The event will take place on Thursday, September 28th from 10:00 am-2:00 pm at the Pascagoula Public Library. September is National Sickle Cell Awareness Month and according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Sickle Cell Disease affects nearly 100,000 Americans. This condition is most found in Black or African American births, affecting 1 out of every 365 births, and in Hispanic American births, affecting about 1 out of every 16,300 births. In honor of this month, the Pascagoula Public Library has teamed up with the American Red Cross to host this blood drive event. Donating blood is a simple and easy way to make a difference in someone’s life. Come join your fellow community members and help those in need. Make a difference on Thursday, September 28th, from 10:00 am-2:00 pm at the Pascagoula Public Library.
